Angler Help Sought in Reporting Yellow Perch Parasite

Angler help sought in reporting possible occurrences of the yellow perch parasite Heterosporis, which has been reported from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Lake Ontario. Yellow perch, walleye, rainbow trout, channel catfish, and fathead minnnows are especially susceptible to the parasite. Please contact your local DNR fisheries biologist to report potentially infected fish, or call the MDNR Fish Health Lab at 616-668-2132.

Click on Heterosporis Update for a description and picture of affected yellow perch.
