About the Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station

The Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station is a unit of the Research Section of Michigan DNR's Fisheries Division. The station conducts research and stock assessment on fish populations of Lake Erie, the St. Clair/Detroit River System, and Saginaw Bay. Results of this research are instrumental in fisheries management decisions affecting these waters. The station routinely cooperates in joint projects with state academic institutions, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, USGS Biological Resources Division, US Army Corps of Engineers, Great Lakes Fishery Commission, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Canadian federal and provincial agencies, other DNR Great Lakes fisheries research stations, other Great Lakes states, and others. Funding for research projects is provided from a variety of sources, but typically is Sport Fish Restoration dollars.
