Asian Carp

• Asian Carp Management Plan PDF icon
This document is a plan for Michigan to address potential monitoring and assessment needs for Asian carp.

• About Asian Carp
Asian CarpTwo species of Asian carp that live in the Des Plains River in Illinois are viewed as a potential ecological problem if they gain access to the Great Lakes. The bighead and silver carp eat plankton and grow to large sizes. Fisheries biologists are concerned they will out-compete native species for food and habitat.
