Department of Natural Resources' officials announced today that a portion of snowmobile trail #76, near Slashing Road in Charlevoix County on the border of Chandler and Hudson Townships, is closed due to a failing and unsafe bridge. The closed section of the trail is approximately two miles long between Chandler Road and Thumb Lake Road, also known as County Road 626.

An additional portion of Trail #76 from the South line of Charlevoix County to where it meets with Trail #765 from the East is not being groomed. Riders may wish to avoid this approximate 10-mile stretch of un-groomed trail altogether.

A reroute proposal around this closed bridge section has been developed and is being evaluated. In the meantime, riders can follow Trail # 762 or Trail #765 on the east side to avoid this closed and un-groomed section of Trail #76.
