Highland Recreation Area Bass Lake Lodge

Get away from it all a lot closer than you think. The Bass Lake Lodge at Highland Recreation Area provides modern facilities in a wooded, secluded location that has that Up North feel without the long drive.

This facility overlooks Bass Lake, which connects to Lower Pettibone Lake and Pickeral Lake by a stream. A rowboat is available to renters from April 1 to November 30 for leisurely water tour around the lakes.

Equipped with a modern bathroom, including a shower, in the lower level, Bass Lake sleeps six.  Two bedrooms on the main floor contain one double bunk and two single bunks and an upstairs loft has two singles. Visitors must bring their own sleeping bags and other bedding.

The kitchen contains a refrigerator, an electric stove, toaster, microwave and coffepot. Tableware and various cookware is included. A table and chairs provides a cozy dining area.

Highland Recreation Area offers 5,900 acres of forest, marshes and lakes in the rolling hills of Southern Michigan. With trails to accommodate equestrian riders, mountain bikers, hikers and skiers, there's an activity for every season in this park. Three different day-use areas provide ample space for picnics, swimming, horseshoes or volleyball.

The cost is $80 per night for week nights. Weekends and holiday nights are $90 per night.  A weekly rate of $580 is also available and there is an $8 non-refundable reservation fee. To reserve your stay at the Bass Lake Lodge, contact the park by calling 248-889-3750.
