The Department of Natural Resources today announced there will be a meeting at Fort Custer Recreation Area on Friday, Feb. 15, to seek public input on the possible re-zoning of 92 acres of the park. The area under consideration is currently classified as a Natural Resource Recreation Zone (NRRZ) and officials are considering having the area re-zoned to a Developed Recreation Zone. A re-zoning of the area would allow for the development of additional recreation opportunities that fit the scope and esthetics of Fort Custer Recreation Area.
Officials are hoping that persons interested in the Fort Custer Recreation Area will stop out for one of the two scheduled sessions at the Fort Custer Recreation Area Headquarters on Feb. 15 and view the new proposed re-zoning plan. DNR Park and Recreation Division officials will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 6 until 7 p.m.
