Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park--Lantern-Lit Cross-Country Skiing
Join us on December 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Superior Loop Ski Trail (across from ski hill entrance) for an old-fashioned kerosene lantern illuminated evening of cross country skiing. Lanterns are placed along the entire one-mile loop for an incredible skiing experience. Stop halfway around the loop at the warming shelter where the park naturalist will have a campfire blazing. This trail has an "easy" rating; however, skiing at night is always a challenge. This program is free of charge. The program is Eastern Standard Time and may be cancelled due to poor weather or trail conditions. For more information contact Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State park at 906-885-5275.
All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance and headquarters. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
