Special Turkey Hunting Opportunities for Youth and Hunters with Disabilities

There will be a youth hunting opportunity at the Muskegon County Wastewater System on April 28 and 29, 2012. Plans include a youth turkey hunting workshop on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 and a youth orientation field day on Saturday, April 14, 2012. All participants must attend both the workshop and field day to be eligible. There are only 25 openings for this opportunity. Please contact David Farhat at (231) 767-0222 or Jon Gale at (231) 719-1040, both of the Muskegon River Bottom Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, or e-mail MuskegonYouthHunt@gmail.com prior to the workshop.

The Fort Custer Training Center near Battle Creek offers turkey hunting opportunities for properly licensed youth (Hunt 301). A mentor is available for each participant. An optional workshop will be held on April 27, with turkey hunting occurring on April 28 and April 29, 2012. Free housing is available, along with range time to sight-in guns for the youth hunt. Special hunting opportunities are also available for properly licensed hunters with a disability during May (Hunt 234).
