Teachers into the WILD

Getting students outside and learning outdoor skills is a tremendous way to teach inquiry techniques, build student confidence, and meet many science and health requirements. Educators enrolled in this session will spend each day with a specific outdoor learning objective that will enable them to take students outdoors and engage in hands-on skills.

Archery is now in nearly 500 Michigan schools. In this program, we'll give you basic instructions and techniques, as well as tell you how you can get your students involved in archery.

Project FISH will introduce you to the world of fishing and how you can involve your students in many of the activities associated with fishing.

Learning canoeing skills will give you the confidence to lead outdoor field trips on local rivers or wilderness trips.

Land Navigation: Old and New combines map and compass techniques associated with orienteering along with GPS 101, and an opportunity to put geocaching in your students' outdoor experience portfolio.

Tips for starting an outdoor club at your school and other discussions round out this week-long outdoor skills clinic. Join the thousands of schools and educators who are working toward re-establishing the outdoors as a classroom and vow to leave no child inside.
