Plant, Animal, and Community Abstracts

Detailed information on the identification and ecology of the natural plant communities and endangered, threatened, and special concern plants and animals of Michigan may be found in the linked abstracts. This is not an exhaustive list of all special communities or species in Michigan, but will continue to grow. Information provided includes range, state distribution, recognition details, best survey time, habitat, biology, conservation/management, research needs and selected references.

The abstracts were prepared by Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) with funding from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and other sources. MNFI is a cooperative program of Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. By clicking on the link below, you will be re-directed to the MNFI website to view the list of available abstracts.
