• Landowner Incentive Program

Because of our changing landscape, many species of wildlife are in critical need of assistance. With almost 70% of Michigan’s landscape under private ownership, landowners play a significant role in the survival of rare species. Would you be interested in:

  • Creating or improving habitat for wildlife?
  • Receiving technical and financial help to improve your property?
  • Helping wildlife species, especially rare species?

If so, the Landowner Incentive Program can offer you advice and support. As a landowner, you can make a difference. More than 600 species of plants and animals are listed as threatened, endangered or special concern in Michigan, in large part because of habitat loss. Because most of these rare and declining species occur on private land, citizens like you play a vital role in conserving Michigan's unique natural heritage for future generations.

The primary goal of the Landowner Incentive Program is to help private landowners create and manage habitat for species that are rare and/or declining. We do this by providing advice, management plans, and funding to individuals and organizations throughout the state that qualify.
