Agency: Natural Resources

July 24, 2008

The Department of Natural Resources today announced that reservations are being accepted for the new camper cabin at Bruin Lake campground in the Pinckney Recreation Area. The camper cabin is ideal for families that may not have a tent or camper, but would like to "GO-Get Outdoors" and enjoy the camping experience.

The camper cabin, which is fully accessible, features a spacious deck overlooking Bruin Lake; one of seven lakes in a chain of lakes that are popular with fishing and boating enthusiasts.

The cabin sleeps six and has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds. The living room has a full-size sleeper sofa, and all three rooms are equipped with electric heat. The cabin features a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Outside, the cabin has its own fire circle and picnic table. Visitors will need to bring their own bedding, dishes and cooking equipment. The cabin also is conveniently located near the modern restroom and showers. During the late fall and winter months, a portable outhouse is available.

The Bruin Lake camper cabin is available to rent for $80 per night through Oct. 15, and can be reserved online at www.midnrreservations.com or by calling 800-44-PARKS. After Oct. 15, the nightly rate is reduced to $60 for the winter months until mid-April.

Pinckney Recreation Area is located at 8555 Silver Hill Rd. in Pinckney. For more information about the park or cabin, contact the park at (734) 426-4913.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
