August 19, 2008

Van Riper State Park will host its third annual "Golden Memories Dance" on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the park's pavilion. Superior Swing will set the mood with its nostalgic songs ranging from the 1940s Big Band era to rock-n-roll and all of the great American classics as well.

Van Riper State Park is located 35 miles west of Marquette along US-41. With a half mile of frontage on Lake Michigamme and more than a mile of frontage along the Peshekee River, fishing, boating and swimming are popular activities for park visitors. Camping reservations for the 147 campsites at the park can be made by calling 1-800-447-2757 (1-800-44PARKS) or online at http://www.midnrreservations.com.
