Muskallonge Lake State Park will host its first annual "Rock on with Lake Superior Agates," rock show sponsored by the Deer Park Lodge. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, from10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
This rock show dedicated to Lake Superior agate collectors and enthusiasts, and new vendors are welcome to attend. "GO-Get Outdoors" to view the collections, or learn more about Lake Superior agates, and buy, sell, or trade, or just show off your collection. On-site lapidaries will be available to cut and polish. Several guest speakers are scheduled to give presentations on Lake Superior geology, agate formation and agate quality.
"Many of our park guests have a special interest in Lake Superior agates," stated Jim Dzelak, DNR park supervisor. "The park offers access to Lake Superior that is sought by many agate enthusiasts. The idea to hold this show at the park was a perfect fit."
Muskallonge Lake State Park is located approximately 28 miles northwest of Newberry on Luce County Road 407. The park has 159 campsites in the modern campground with accessible restroom facilities and sites. Camping reservations can be made on-line at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
