South Higgins Lake State Park will host a fall harvest festival the weekend of Oct. 3-5. Activities throughout the weekend will include a site decorating contest, hay rides, trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, face painting, a spooky walk in the forest, pirate ship rides, a costume ball, a birds of prey program, K-9 demonstrations and many more.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, all activities are for campers only. Activities on Friday and Sunday are open to the public. Persons planning to participate in the trick-or-treating are being asked to bring treats to pass out to the kids, and adults.
"GO-Get Outdoors" and enjoy the fall season at South Higgins Lake State Park. South Higgins Lake State Park is located at 106 State Park Dr. near Roscommon. The park offers over 400 modern campsites with accessible restrooms, and currently there are campsites available for this weekend's events. All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
