The Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) for the Department of Natural Resources will meet on from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Luce-Mackinac-Alger-Schoolcraft (LMAS) District Health Department, located at 14150 Hamilton Lake Rd. in Newberry.
Topics for discussion include:
- Non-industrial private lands
- Deer management
- Crossbows
- Offshore wind energy
- Carbon credits
There also will be a presentation by DNR Wildlife Biologist Brian Roell to update the council on the status of gray wolves.
The CACs were formed to give UP citizens more input into DNR regional programs and activities. The councils, both an Eastern UP and Western UP one, have a wide array of outdoor recreation interests represented and help the DNR identify ways to be more effective across the region.
CAC meetings are open to the public. For more information, contact Stacy Welling, DNR UP field deputy, at (906) 228-6561.
