Contact:  Sara Schaefer 269-685-6851
Agency: Natural Resources

March 25, 2009

The Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house Tuesday, April 14, to discuss habitat management plans utilizing timber harvest in the Allegan State Game Area. The open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 404 at the Allegan High School Events Center, located at 1560 M-40 North in Allegan.

The intent of the open house is to share plans for the Allegan State Game Area that include timber sales planned for the upcoming year. Local staff will be available to answer questions and receive comments from attendees.

"We feel it is important for those with an interest in habitat management at Allegan State Game Area to have a way to learn about the details of this management. It is our desire to use this public outreach process to provide information and exchange ideas in an interactive way," said Sara Schaefer, DNR Southwestern Management Unit supervisor.

Individuals attending this open house are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for the Allegan State Game Area open house should contact Cindy McQueer at (269) 673-2430, a minimum of five business days before this meeting. Requests made less than five business days before this event may not be accommodated.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
