DNR to Host Public Meeting on Plans for Former Aggressive Marine Site in Oakland County

Contact:  Luba Sitar 248-359-9060
Agency: Natural Resources

April 1, 2009

The Department of Natural Resources today announced that public input is being sought regarding the future use of the access site formerly known as the Aggressive Marine Marina. An open house is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Proud Lake Recreation Area - Annex Building, located at 3500 Wixom Rd. in Commerce Township.

The access site, located on Union Lake at the corner of Union Lake Road and Wise Road in Commerce Township, is now owned by the DNR. The intent of the meeting is to take public comment regarding the marina and the public's level of interest in the DNR operating this marina for this year's boating season. Local staff will be available to answer questions and receive comments from attendees.

"It is important for those with an interest in the recreation on Union Lake to have input before a decision is made to operate the marina. The public meeting gives the DNR the opportunity to hear the comments and concerns of the local communities regarding their need for recreation facilities on this lake," said Luba Sitar, the DNR's Southeastern Michigan District park supervisor.

Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for the Proud Lake Recreation Area- Annex building should contact Bobbi Audette at (248) 685-2433, a minimum of five business days before this meeting. Requests made less than five business days before this event may not be accommodated.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
