Two meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, for comments and review of the proposed management plans of Holland and Saugatuck Dunes State Parks. Two meetings are scheduled on Thursday, April 30, for comments and review of the proposed management plans of Grand Mere, Warren Dunes, and Warren Woods State Parks. The meetings will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. that day at the Chikaming Township Office, located at 13535 Red Arrow Highway in Harbert.
Combined, these five parks provide over 4,390 acres of public property with over six miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan. They hold some of the state's most unique and protected natural and cultural resources and provide varied recreational and educational opportunities.
After a review of the planning process and the special qualities of these public lands, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments about these parks, the resources found there and the planning efforts underway.
The planning process is being facilitated by the firm of Birchler Arroyo Associates, Inc., who will participate with state officials in conducting these meetings. Information about these parks, the planning process, and the recommendations developed to date can be found at http://drop.io/michdnrwest. A Management Plan survey is available on this site for response and it will also be available at the workshop. You are encouraged to visit this site to complete the survey and review the latest information about the plans and the parks.
Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for the meeting should contact Paul N. Curtis at 517-335-4832 a minimum of five working days before the workshop. Requests made less than five days before this meeting may not be accommodated.
