The Michigan Fisheries Visitor Center at the Oden State Fish Hatchery welcomes youngsters in grades 4 through 8 to participate in the center's fourth annual youth fishing clinic, Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
During the clinic, participants will rotate through eight outdoor learning stations on fishing including a catch-and-release fishing station. All materials and equipment are provided. The program is free of charge and includes lunch and a raffle. Youngsters are reminded to dress for the weather. Parents are required to preregister their children by calling the visitor center at (231) 348-0998.
On Memorial Day Weekend, the Michigan Fisheries Visitor Center reopens for the summer seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering daily tours of the Oden State Fish Hatchery and weekly nature programs. The visitor center is located on US-31, in Oden, about five miles east of Petoskey.
