The Michigan Natural Resources Commission (NRC) will meet on Thursday, June 4, in Lansing for its regular monthly meeting. The commission will meet in rooms 201 and 202 of the Lansing Center, located at 333 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing.
Prior to the regular business meeting, the NRC's Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Room 202 to review several Wildlife Conservation Order amendments dealing with the statewide bear plan, furbearer regulations, field trial regulations, antlerless deer license quotas and managed waterfowl/early season regulations. Also the committee will receive the final results of the 2008 deer hunting season.
At 12:30 p.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Land Management will meet in Room 202. The committee will review NRC Policy 1010 regarding appeals to the NRC, receive updates on state trail issues and conservation easements.
At 1:45 p.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Finance and Administration will meet in Room 202 to review the Department of Natural Resources' monthly spend plan, receive an update on recent audits and receive an update from Michigan Treasury Department representatives on the DNR's investments.
At 3 p.m. the Committee of the Whole will convene in Room 201 to review DNR Director Rebecca Humphries' action items on the meeting's agenda. The committee will also receive a legislative update and Washington D.C. report, hear a presentation on conservation officer job analysis, receive an update on Lt. Governor John Cherry's work to reorganize state government, review a proposal to lease DNR shooting ranges, and honor DNR employees receiving this year's Director's Award.

Persons also can contact Gloden at the meeting site to sign up for the public comment period. At 5 p.m., there will be a presentation of the National Archery in the Schools Program national champion.
The NRC will take action on approving a new policy for appeals to the NRC, field trial regulations, wolf management, furbearer regulations, approving which Deer Management Units will be opened or closed to antlerless deer hunting during the 2009 hunting season, and approval the Pure Michigan Hunt.
DNR Director Rebecca Humphries will take action on whether or not DNR shooting ranges should be leased, antlerless deer license fees, the Michigan bear management plan, an oil and gas lease auction that took place on May 5, and she will authorize several land transactions.
