Department of Natural Resources forest recreation officials today announced the eastern half of the Evart Motorcycle Trail, located in Osceola County, will be closed for approximately one month to allow the cleanup of downed trees, which resulted from a wind storm that occurred last summer. Riders should not attempt to use the closed portion of the trail because there will be active logging equipment in the area, as well as the potential of falling trees.
Questions may be directed to Amanda Matelski, DNR trails analyst, at (231) 775-9727, ext. 6044. Information regarding other ORV/ATV riding opportunities may be found on the DNR's Web site at www.michigan.gov/orvtrails.
The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources for current and future generations.
