The Department of Natural Resources today announced that the
Stonington/Farmer's Dock boating access site will close temporarily for construction beginning today (July 30). The boating access site is located in Delta County on the Stonington Peninsula.
Contractors will be operating large equipment to dredge and install a new concrete boat ramp. The contractors will also use blasting to help with the dredging process.
Phenco, Inc. of Neenah, Wisconsin, is the general contractor for this project. They anticipate the new and improved ramp will reopen on Sept. 11.
This project is funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, a restricted fund derived from boat registration fees and a portion of the Michigan marine fuel tax for the construction, operation and maintenance of recreational boating facilities, harbors and inland waterways.
