Arbor Day

He who plants a tree, plants hope.
-Lucy Larcon

Arbor Week: April 20 - 24, 2009.
Arbor Day is April 24, 2009.

Arbor Day is the celebration of trees and their importance in our lives; it is also a time to think about what we can do for trees and the world in which we live.

Healthy natural resources are vital to environmental quality and quality of life. Trees are in our backyards, neighborhoods, cities, farms and forests; they connect us to our past and to our future.

To find out how you can get involved in or plan your own celebration of trees, contact the   Michigan Arbor Day Alliance on the web or by calling 517-543-5848, extension 5.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources provides an activity booklet on-line for teachers and groups who want to learn more about trees and plan educational activities throughout the year. Click here for the Arbor Day booklet.
