Program Objective(s):
To provide information and technical assistance to municipal governments, schools, nonprofit organizations and volunteer groups for urban and community forest activities such as tree inventories, management plans, planting and other maintenance activities.
Criteria:
Projects that develop or enhance urban and community forestry resources in Michigan. Project categories are: Management and Planning, Education and Training, Library Resources and Tree Planting.
Eligibility:
Local units of government, schools, tribes, and nonprofit organizations
Application Process:
Applications are announced each summer (June-July), submitted to the Forest Management Division and then reviewed by Division staff. Applications are approved, adjusted or denied. Applicants are notified and agreements signed.
Deadline(s):

Timeline(s):
Project duration: Approximately one year (September through September)

Grant requests may be up to $20,000, depending on the project type
