Houghton County

No burn permits issued for trees, logs, brush, and stumps within 1400 feet of a city or village due to Department of Environmental Quality rules.
Calumet, Village: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Copper City, Village: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Hancock, City: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Houghton, City: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Lake Linden, Village: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Laurium, Village: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
South Range, Village: The open burning of either grass clippings or leaves is allowed with a permit.
Torch Lake Township: Burn permits are not available on line or through the call center. Please Contact your township fire official for more information and a permit:
