Importance:
Contains a high, wooded dune system with excellent examples of blowouts, as well as over a
mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. The wooded areas include large, mature beech, maple,
hemlock, oak, and black cherry trees. Wildflowers provide color in the spring. Trails are
open for cross-country skiing in the winter, though not lit or groomed.
