AN exciting opportunity for DNR Computer users!
Train at your own computer, Take an Internet Based Training (IBT) course!
The DNR has a contract with Computer Data, INC. (CDI) to provide training courses over the internet for our employees. The training includes all of the Microsoft Desktop programs that are used on the DNR desktop, plus courses that cover introductory computer use.
IBT Details
All of the courses have skills assessment quizzes at the beginning and end of the course, allowing you to measure your progress after you finish the course work. You can exit at any time within the course and set a bookmark that returns you to the point you exited. You can use the table of contents for answering your knowledge base questions.
Once a license is purchased, the end-user can log on to the site and take the courses at their desk. All of the Microsoft courses are Microsoft-official curriculum. The State has been able to obtain this offer for $48 per student.
This training includes courses in MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Access. It also has training in Computer Basics and in Windows NT. The company will provide monthly reports to the Divisions about how much progress has been made, via quizzes, on each purchase, so that supervisors can assess how effective the training is. The personal training mentioned below, will not be reported.
The IBT package includes some training courses that you may use on your own time, that may be of benefit to you. These include Quicken, Windows98. Time Management, Math Skills, Motivation, and Retirement Planning, just to name a few.
Courses are used by visiting an Internet Web Site at http://www.computerdata.com Under the terms of the agreement, the User can access 365 days a year, for one year. Access can be gained from a home computer, or from a work computer, or from any computer, with internet access.
To Register
You may elect to name one or two, or more, people from each office to utilize these training options. For some employees being able to schedule their training in small bites (no pun intended), is ideal. For others, the classroom situation is better.
If you would like to take this training, please check with your supervisor first, then notify Frances Ryan ryanf@michigan.gov or at 517-335-3355 Be aware that we are trying to resolve the plug-in (Shockwave) problem.
Any work time that you intend to spend on this course work must be approved by your supervisor, but you may spend as much time as you want on your own time. There is only one id and password per person, so an entire office may not share one licence
If you have further questions, please contact Frances Ryan or visit their website at http://www.computerdata.com
