Location

The Father Marquette National Memorial is located in Straits State Park, just west of I-75, off U.S. 2.

Admission

Admission to the national memorial is free. A Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for entry to the park but is not required for a visit to the memorial.

2013 Season Dates and Hours

The Father Marquette National Memorial is open daily, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., through September 2.

Plaque reads, in part: Father Jacques Marquette, 1637 - 1675... This French Jesuit missionary arrived in North America in 1666. Five years later, he founded a mission on the Straits of Mackinac, naming it in honor of St. Ignatius Loyola.

How Much Time?

Please allow about one hour to take in the national memorial, a 15-station outdoor interpretive trail and panoramic views of the Mackinac Bridge. The park also offers camping, picnicking, hiking and other seasonal activities. See a map of the site.

Pets: Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcomed on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. For further information, please refer to the DNRE web page, Pets in State Park Campgrounds.
