Meet the Swampers

Swampers Base Ball Club
Hartwick Pines Logging Museum
Grayling, Michigan

Baseball circa 1860 was a sport of gentlemen. The Swampers Base Ball Club includes ladies and gentlemen because, although it was unlikely for a woman to play baseball with men at that time, there were instances of players who were women disguised as men. We are pleased to introduce you to the Hartwick Pines Swampers Base Ball Club.

Not sure what a position name means? Look at our glossary of vintage baseball terms.
