On the Michigan Studies tour, you'll do more than just see the Soo Locks—you will ride through the locks, just as the big freighters do.

Spend four days immersed in learning how Michigan's economy has changed through time, and explore the places where some of our state's historically important industries developed.

July 29 and August 1 take place here at the Michigan Historical Museum; on July 30 an 31, you will travel to Hartwick Pines Logging Museum in Grayling, the Straits of Mackinac and Sault Ste. Marie.

In this workshop, you will:

• build a stronger understanding of economics as a social studies discipline
   
• learn how teaching history and economics together can make both more memorable
   
• visit sites that are significant to Michigan's economy and its history
   
• develop creative classroom lessons with other teachers
   
• learn about valuable teacher resources

Cost: $275 - includes some meals and one overnight stay in northern Michigan.
SAVE $25 - Register for only $250, when you pay in full by June 17.

For a small additional charge, SCECHS/SB-CEUs are available through Wayne County RESA. Additionally, participants in this workshop are eligible for graduate credit through Madonna University's Professional Development Program.

The Michigan Historical Museum—flagship of the Michigan Historical Museum System—is located inside the Michigan Library and Historical Center, 702 West Kalamazoo Street, Lansing. The museum and visitor parking are on the north side of Kalamazoo Street, two blocks east of M. L. King Jr. Boulevard. Weekend parking is free.
