Ruffed Grouse: Sept. 15 - Nov. 14 and Dec. 1 - Jan. 1

Sharp-tailed Grouse: Oct. 10-31

Squirrel - Fox and Gray (black phase included): Sept. 15 - Mar. 1

Waterfowl: TBA

Wild Turkey: (Fall Season): Sept. 15 - Nov. 14 (see 2014 Fall Turkey Digest for applicable units)

Woodcock: Sept. 20 - Nov. 4

Opossum, porcupine, weasel, red squirrel, skunk, ground squirrel, woodchuck, feral swine, feral pigeons, starling and house sparrows may be taken year-round with a valid Michigan hunting license.

It is highly recommended that the 2014 Michigan Hunting and Trapping Digest, or other species-specific hunting digests be consulted for a more complete list of dates and regulations regarding each hunt period.

Note: Hunters may apply for one public land OR one private land license. If licenses remain after the drawing, they will be sold until the quota is met in each DMU beginning September 11 at 10 a.m.

Important Reminders for Hunt Applications

  • It is your responsibility to apply correctly. Obtain a legible receipt when you purchase your application. Verify ALL receipt information at the time of purchase, including your ID and hunt selection. Retain receipt as proof of application.
  • Review the species hunting guide carefully before applying. Complete the worksheet in the guide; you will need this information to apply.
  • Printed hunting guides may be obtained at any license agent or DNR Customer Service Center.
  • For application assistance, contact the DNR Wildlife Division at 517-284-WILD (9453).
