Muskegon State Park Yurt
The yurt at Muskegon State Park offers a unique camping experience. Yurts are sturdy, tent-like structures made with insulated canvas exteriors and an interior of attractive wood latticework. At the dome of the roof sits a beautiful skylight for a picturesque view. The yurt is located near the Winter Sports Complex and close to the park's trail network. Enjoy the iced luge run in the winter and wheeled luge run in the summer as well as ice skating rinks, a 1/4 mile iced trail through the woods, 5 miles of lit cross-country skiing trails, and a snowshoe course. There are fees associated with the different venues. Equipment rental is also available. For more information go to www.msports.org.
The 20 foot diameter yurt sits upon a wood deck and comes with two handmade log bunk beds, mattresses, a table, chairs and a solar lantern, with a woodstove for heat. Firewood is provided. For additional persons a set of stacking cots are available. A picnic table and fire ring is located on site. The yurt will sleep up to 7 adults. Electricity and running water are not provided, however, an outhouse is located nearby. During the warmer months modern restrooms and showers are available at the Lake Michigan Campground across the road. The yurt is available for rent year round.
