At the Nov. 10, 2010, meeting at Lapeer State Game Area about horseback-riding regulations, several questions were asked regarding two large purchases of land at the game area. Based on the deeds and other supporting information, neither of the parcels was (partially) gifted to the state, and there were no deed restrictions allowing horse use for either the 3,351-acre Vernor Estate (executor Raymond Berry) or the 1,179.09-acre and 0.35-acre Conklin-King Ranch parcels (sold by Arthur and Mary Dodds).
