Fayette Historic State Park offers a unique lodging option for visitors looking to spend time exploring this restored town site of a once bustling industrial community that manufactured charcoal pig iron between 1867 and 1891.
Fully furnished, the "Furnace Hill Lodge" sleeps up to 10 people and is equipped with cedar framed beds consisting of: a full, a queen, and a bunk bed single over full. A futon bed as well as a pull out full sofa bed are located in the living area. Included is a fuel-efficient furnace with central air conditioning for your convenience.
The remodeled kitchen includes maple cabinetry, a refrigerator, an electric stove, a microwave, a toaster and a coffeemaker. Dishes, pots, cutlery, glassware, mixing bowls and other essentials are included. A single bathroom includes a tub/shower unit, flush toilet and sink. Bedding, towels and all kitchen linens are included.
Originally constructed in the early 70’s, Furnace Hill Lodge was once used as the manager’s residence. Nestled in the edge of the woods directly off the entrance road, the lodge offers a private setting within walking distance of the restored historic town site.
Fayette Historic State Park offers visitors the unmatched serenity of a Lake Michigan harbor, white cliffs and verdant forests. It serves as a functional, comfortable modern base with a rustic flare for a wide variety of Pure Michigan recreational pursuits, including hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and hunting. The Lodge will be open year-round for winter pursuits including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling (no direct trail access).
The Lodge rents for $110/night (Sun. – Thurs.) and $135/night (Fri. & Sat.) with an $8 non-refundable reservation fee. A two-night minimum stay is required under a reservation Memorial Day thru Labor Day. Weekly rate: $820 – any combination of 7 consecutive days. Check-in time is at 3 p.m. (ET) and check-out time is at 10 a.m. (ET). All vehicles will be required to display a motor vehicle passport. Modern Lodge reservations are established by contacting Fayette Historic State Park. All reservations must be made by direct phone contact or in person.
Smoking is not permitted in any state-owned building and only service animals are allowed to enter Fayette's Furnace Hill Lodge.
Wood fires are permitted in the backyard fire circle only. Firewood is not provided but, is still available for purchase on site.
Daily maid service is not available, and visitors are expected to perform their own housecleaning each day. Prior to departure, visitors are expected to vacuum, wash dishes and clean the residence for the next set of guests. Brooms, mops and cleaning supplies are provided.
