Instructor: Dave Dister
Come to Ludington State Park this spring to learn the basics of bird watching. This common Michigan pastime is inexpensive and fun for the whole family. Local birding enthusiast Dave Dister will be taking participants on a 2-3 hour nature hike in search of some of Michigan's most common residential and migratory birds. Dave is an insightful instructor, who is currently working on a book featuring the birds of Mason County and Ludington State Park. He will teach visitors how to identify birds via sight and sound. Participants should meet at the warming shelter near the interior entrance of the park. Be prepared for a moderate hike in the immediate area including the Beach House, Lake Michigan Shoreline and/or the Island Trail. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bird guide if available. Binoculars will be provided if needed. This class is designed for ages 12 and up.
