Come join the Hoverclub of America for a thrilling weekend of Hovercraft events. Sanctioned racing competition in 7 different classes takes place to see who will become the Great Lakes Area Hovercraft Champions in 2013, with racing open to the novice or experienced racer. This is a new course this year at Chilson Pond, which is sure to prove exciting.
Spectators are welcome to come out and watch the event, as it is pretty cool and entertaining to see the Hovercraft go from land to water and back again. Check them out during the safety runs or while practicing, but the sanctioned racing heats take place from noon-5pm on Saturday, and Endurance racing on Sunday from noon-3pm. After the racing is over on Saturday, everyone is welcome to attend the cookout for $10 per person.
Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each class will be presented on Sunday following the Endurance race. Volunteers are needed to help with the race - it's a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the people and their equipment.
