Learn about the migratory birds that pass through the area and possibly see the birds that call the park home. Learn the names of birds and the what, when, how, and where of birds here in the park. Find out how invasive species of birds and plants affect the native bird species and what the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is doing about this problem. Have a bird feeder at your house? Learn about the importance of managing it to keep the birds happy and healthy.
Meet at the Warming Shelter. Bring your own binoculars and camera for this short walk along the Lake Michigan shore to view the bird migration.
Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Please be prepared for a 1 mile walk on sand. For more information, contact the park interpreter, Alan Wernette at 231-843-9261.
