Learn about the migratory birds that pass through the area and possibly see the birds that call the park home. Learn the names of birds and the what, when, how, and where of birds here in the park. Find out how invasive species of birds and plants affect the native bird species and what the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is doing about this problem. Have a bird feeder at your house? Learn about the importance of managing it to keep the birds happy and healthy.
Meet at the Hamlin Lake Beach House. Bring your own binoculars and camera for this walk along Hamlin Lake and the Big Sable River. We will view and discuss the many birds found in this state park like eagles, owls, hawks, numerous waterfowl and woodpeckers.
Appropriate for ages 8 and up. The walk is approximately 1 mile on an ADA accessible trail. For more information, contact the park interpreter, Alan Wernette at 231-843-9261.
