Intermittent Camping

The intermittent camping program allows campers to leave their unoccupied camping unit on a campsite between fully registered stays during certain times of the year.

General Conditions

  • Only applies when a campground is considered officially open.
  • Maximum intermittent stay is 5 nights.
  • Camping unit must be unplugged during storage. Units left plugged in will be charged full camping rates upon return to the park.
  • This option is available only between September 15 and May 15 and for intervals which do not include or adjoin dates that the park may fill. However, if the unit staff has reason to believe that actual campers will need all sites during the requested period, he/she will deny rental. Sites considered to be "high demand" (e.g. waterfront) shall not be utilized for this program.
  • This program is only available at participating parks. Contact the individual park to confirm participation.
  • Camper will be required to sign the Intermittent Camp Regulations Form (available at the campground) acknowledging the waiver of liability and camp rules in order to participate in the program.

Registration & Fees

  • Reservations are not accepted for this program.
  • There is no fee for the nights the camping equipment is unoccupied on a campsite as long as all the general condition are met and related camping fees paid.
  • Intermittent stay must be preceded by at least 2 nights at the full camping rate and followed by at least 2 nights at the full camping rate.
  • Camping fees must be paid in advance, if fees are not paid in advance the camp doesn't qualify for the intermittent program and may result in eviction and/or an appearance ticket.
