The Secret is Out ... Michigan State Parks are Pure Gold!
In November, Michigan State Parks and Recreation Areas received the 2011 Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation and Park Association. This distinguished award, presented once every two years, acknowledges an organization that sets the nation's "gold standard" for excellence in park and recreation management.
By making Michigan's state parks and recreation areas part of your life, you share an important role in our 90-year-long vision of conservation and commitment to our state's natural and cultural resources.
If you haven't been to a state park recently resolve to make the outdoors part of your 2012. Volunteer with one of our Friends Groups who donated nearly $1 million to our parks last year and volunteered nearly 30,000 hours for events and projects. Or just come out and play or take part in one or more of 500 events scheduled in 2012.
On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for your support. Come visit us. Enjoy our parks and share our pride in this achievement.
