Dive into the extraordinary story of northern Michigan's Au Sable River! Our new special exhibit takes you on a journey to explore how the famed river:

  • influenced people around the world
  • provided renewal, inspiration and livelihoods
  • helped to guide the fields of fish management and river protection
The River that Changed the World includes a real 24-foot-long riverboat, the custom railcar known as the Wolverine Fish Car and a reconstruction of the Wanigas Rod Shop.
