SPECIAL LOCAL WATERCRAFT CONTROLS - ANTRIM COUNTY

ELK RIVER - WC-05-12-001 - Slow--no wake speed.

On the waters of the Elk River, commencing at the Elk Rapids Power Dam, Latitude: 44.90096 Longitude: 85.41126, extending upstream to a piece of land formerly connected to Government Lot #3, known as "the Island", Latitude: 44.89555 Longitude: 85.40456, within Section 21, Town 29 North, Range 9 West, within the Village of Elk Rapids, County of Antrim, State of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

Slow-no wake speed means a very slow speed whereby the wake or wash created by the motorboat would be minimal.

The boundaries of the area described above shall be marked with signs and/or with buoys. Any buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

GREEN LAKE - WC-05-07-001 - Slow--no wake speed.

On the waters of Green Lake, Sections 26 and 27, T29N, R7W, township of Custer, county of Antrim, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and/or with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Recourses and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System. For the purpose of this ordinance, a slow-no wake speed is a very slow speed whereby the wake or wash created from a motorized watercraft would be minimal.

JORDAN RIVER - R281.705.3 - Motorboats prohibited.

3.On the waters of the Jordan river within Antrim county, state of Michigan, no person shall operate any vessel propelled by machinery.

RIVERS AND CHANNELS - R281.705.1 - Slow--no wake speed.

1.On the following rivers and channels, county of Antrim, state of Michigan, no operator of any motorboat shall exceed a slow--no wake speed:

(a) Clam river from Torch lake to Clam lake.

(b) Grass river from Clam lake to lake Bellaire.

(c) Intermediate river from lake Bellaire to Intermediate lake.

(d) Channel connecting Intermediate lake to Hanley lake.

(e) Channel connecting Hanley lake to Benway lake.

(f) Channel connecting Benway lake to Wilson lake.

(g) Channel connecting Wilson lake to Ellsworth lake.

(h) Channel connecting Ellsworth lake to St. Clair lake.

THAYER LAKE - R281.705.5 - Slow--no wake speed.

5. On the waters of Thayer lake, sections 4 and 9, T29N, R8W, Helena township, Antrim county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

TORCH RIVER AND TORCH LAKE ADJACENT TO ITS MOUTH - R281.705.2 - Slow--no wake speed.

2. On the waters of the Torch river, sections 6, 7 and 18, town 28 north, range 8 west, township of Milton, county of Antrim, from the south line of section 18, town 28 north, range 8 west, to the north end of the river and for a distance of 300 feet in any direction in Torch lake, an operator of a vessel shall not exceed a slow--no wake speed, which means a very slow speed whereby the wake or wash created by the vessel would be minimal. (See R281.740.8 for regulation covering the part of this river and adjacent lake lying in Kalkaska county.)

4. On the waters of Wetzel lake, sections 2 and 11, town 29 north, range 6 west, Mancelona township, Antrim county, it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motorboat, which means a vessel propelled by machinery.
