SPECIAL LOCAL WATERCRAFT CONTROLS - GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY

ARBUTUS-, HIGH-, ISLAND-, RENNIE-, AND SPIDER LAKES - R281.728.1 - Rescinded: August 14, 1966

Publisher's Note: This watercraft order pertained to waterskiing prohibited from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. of the following day on the above-mentioned lakes, in Grand Traverse county.

ARBUTUS LAKES, NUMBERS 2, 3, AND 4 (CENTRAL BASINS), HIGH, ISLAND, RENNIE AND SPIDER LAKES - R281.728.2 - Evening and night operations.

2. On the waters of Arbutus lakes numbers 2, 3, and 4, (central basins), High lake, Island lake, Rennie lake and Spider lake, Grand Traverse county, no operator of any motorboat, during the period from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. of the following day, shall:

(a) Operate such motorboat at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water-skis, water sled, surfboard or other similar contrivance.

BELLEW LAKE - R281.728.9 - Slow--no wake speed.

9. On the waters of Bellew lake, section 19 and 30, T27N, R12W, Long Lake township, Grand Traverse county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed. (See R281.710.7 covering that portion of Bellew lake which lies in Benzie county.)

BOARDMAN POND - WC-28-99-001 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of Boardman Pond, a flooding of the Boardman River, all within section 34, T27N, R11W, Garfield township, Grand Traverse county, state of Michigan, from a point beginning at the south section line (Hoch Road extended) to Sabin Dam (Cass Road), it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

CEDAR HEDGE LAKE - R281.728.10 - Hours for high-speed boating and water skiing.

10. On the waters of Cedar Hedge lake, sections 4, 5, 8, and 9, T26N, R12W, Green Lake township, Grand Traverse county, it is unlawful between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day, to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

CHANNELS SEPARATING ARBUTUS LAKES NUMBERS 1 AND 2 AND ARBUTUS LAKES NUMBERS 5 AND 4 - R281.728.4 - Slow--no wake speed.

4. In the defined channels separating Arbutus lakes numbers 1 and 2 and Arbutus lakes numbers 5 and 4, no operator of any vessel shall exceed a slow--no wake speed.

EAST BAY - WC-28-90-002 - -Beaching, mooring and operating within 50 feet of swim areas.

On the waters of East Bay, lake Michigan, city of Traverse City, state of Michigan, it is unlawful to beach, moor, or operate a vessel within fifty (50) of the buoyed swim areas which have been established by permit and are located at Bryant Park Beach, East Bay Park and West End Beach.

ELLIS LAKE, ARBUTUS LAKES NUMBER 1 AND 5; CHANNELS - R281.728.3 - High-speed boating and water skiing prohibited.

3. On the waters of Ellis lake and on the waters of Arbutus lake number 1 (southernmost basin) to and including the northernmost portion of the channel connecting Arbutus lake number 1 and Arbutus lake number 2, and on the waters of Arbutus lake number 5 (northernmost basin) to and including the southernmost portion of the channel connecting Arbutus lake number 5 and Arbutus lake number 4, no operator of any motorboat shall:

(a) Operate such motorboat at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, water sled, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

FIFE LAKE - WC-28-89-001 - Hours of high-speed boating and water skiing.

On the waters of Fife lake, sections 11, 12, 13, and 14, T25N, R9W, Fife Lake township, Grand Traverse county, and section 18, T25N, R8W, Springfield township, Kalkaska county, and that portion of Fife lake located within the village limits of Fife Lake, Michigan, it is unlawful between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

FIFE LAKE - WC-28-98-001 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of Fife Lake, all within section 14, town 25 north, range 9 west, Fife Lake township, Grand Traverse county, state of Michigan, within the area defined by "Slow-no Wake" buoys, placed at the following coordinates, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

Buoy #1 @ N44° 34.000, W85° 21.198

Buoy #2 @ N44° 33.964, W85° 21.206

Buoy #3 @ N44° 33,831, W85° 21.247

Buoy #4 @ N44° 33.842, W85° 21.290

On the waters of the channel connecting Mickey Lake and Long Lake, section 16, T27N, R12W, Long Lake township, Grand Traverse county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

MICKEY LAKE - WC-28-95-001 - Slow--no wake speed.

On the waters of Mickey lake, all within sections 19 and 30, town 27 north, range 12 west, Long Lake township, Grand Traverse county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

8. On the waters of Ruth lake, section 33, town 27 north, range 12 west, Long Lake township, Grand Traverse county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

SPIDER LAKE, SOUTHWEST PART - R281.728.5 - Slow--no wake speed.

5. On the waters of that part of Spider lake lying southwest of a line drawn from a point where the north section line of section 10, town 26 north, range 10 west, intersects the water's edge on the northwest shore, thence 127° true to where such line intersects the water's edge on the southeast shore of said lake, no operator of any motorboat shall exceed a slow--no wake speed.

SPIDER LAKE, A NORTHWEST PART - R281.728.6 -Slow--no wake speed.

6. On the waters of that part of Spider lake in the northwest 1/4 of the northwest 1/4 of section 2, town 26 north, range 10 west, lying between the west section line and a north-south line 430 feet east of said west section line, no operator of any motorboat shall exceed a slow--no wake speed.

SPIDER LAKE, SOUTHEAST PART - R281.728.7 - High-speed boating and water skiing prohibited.

7. On the waters of that part of Spider lake which lie east of a line bearing 180° true from a point of beginning which is described as the westernmost point of land which is 079° true from the point of western shore of Spider lake where the north section line of section 10, town 26 north, range 10 west, meets the water's edge, no operator of any motorboat shall:

(a) Operate such motorboat at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, water sled, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

SPIDER LAKE, THIRD BAY AREA - WC-28-96-001 - Slow--no wake speed.

On the waters of Spider Lake, lying in the northeast quarter of section 3, town 26 north, range 10 west, East Bay township, Grand Traverse county, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

WEST ARM OF GRAND TRAVERSE BAY, LAKE MICHIGAN - WC-28-88-001 - Slow--no wake speed, prohibition of mooring.

On the waters of the west arm of Grand Traverse bay, Lake Michigan, located within the city limits of Traverse City, Michigan, Grand Traverse county, south of a line as extended from the northernmost point of land at the Clinch Yacht harbor, thence east to the northernmost portion of the Boardman river breakwater:

(a) It is unlawful to exceed a slow--no wake speed.

(b) It is unlawful to beach, moor, or operate a vessel within fifty (50) feet of the buoyed swim area, which has been established by permit within the portion of the west arm of Grand Traverse bay.
