Special Firearm Hunt for Those with Disabilities

Those who meet one of the eligibility requirements below may hunt deer on private land in a special firearm season from Oct. 13-16, 2011:

  • Those who have been issued permits to hunt from a standing vehicle.


  • Those who are legally blind.


  • Veterans who have a 100 percent disability or are classified as individually unemployable by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

Freedom Hunt at Fort Custer Training Center
The training center is sponsoring a Freedom Hunt Oct. 14-16 for hunters eligible to participate in the special deer hunt for those with disabilities (see above). Applications can be found at www.fortcusterhunt.org or contact Jonathan Edgerly at jonathan.edgerly@us.army.mil or by phone at 269-731-6570.

The application deadline is Oct. 1, 2011.
