Portion of the High Country Pathway will be temporarily rerouted for bridge project over Black River in Montmorency County

A portion of the High Country Pathway will be temporarily rerouted because the bridge over the Black River in Northeastern Otsego County between Town Corner Lake Campground and the Montmorency county line has been removed due to unsafe conditions. The DNR will determine a long- term fix. The date of reopening is unknown at this time.

A marked detour is in place and it utilizes portions of the Tin Shanty Bridge and Sawdust Pile roads. The 3.7-mile detour is about the same length as the 3.9-mile of rerouted pathway.

Please note that the spur trail to Town Corner Lake Campground will remain open and access to the High Country Pathway is available north of the bridge that has been rerouted. Users are permitted to ford the river, but it is not recommended due to the unpredictability and instability of river courses.
