UPDATE: The new unleaded gasoline tank has been installed and sales are now available (updated 6/2/17).

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources would like to inform boaters that unleaded gasoline sales will be unavailable at Presque Isle State Harbor (Presque Isle County) due to the installation of a new, temporary 1,000-gallon tank. It is anticipated that sales will be restored in late June. Diesel sales still will be available during this time.

"We want to make sure that boaters are able to plan ahead," said Blake Gingrich, park supervisor for Presque Isle State Harbor. "We hope to have unleaded gasoline sales back up and running by the end of June. In the meantime, unleaded gasoline is available for sale at nearby harbors, including Rogers City Marina and Alpena's Marina."

The permanent replacement of both the gasoline and diesel tanks is slated to take place after Oct. 1 when the harbor closes for the season. Updates on the restored service at Presque Isle Harbor can be found at www.michigan.gov/dnrclosures. Additional information on closures and trail detours in DNR facilities, including state trails, boat launches, parks and campgrounds, also are listed on this page.

Presque Isle State Harbor is home to 120 slips and is located near a boat launch, a restaurant, a store, two historic lighthouses and several bike paths. The harbor opens May 15 and closes Oct. 1.
