West Higgins Lake boating access site opens to public; construction project completed ahead of scheduleContact: Josh Pellow, 989-821-6125Agency: Natural Resources
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced that the West Higgins Lake boating access site, which accesses Higgins Lake and is located in Lyon Township in Roscommon County, has reopened after a recent boat ramp replacement project.
The construction project included the replacement of the degraded boat ramp and maintenance dredging along the channel and behind the boat ramp. Construction started Sept. 5 and final work was completed Oct. 3.
"We appreciate the public's patience during construction of this much-needed upgrade and are pleased that the project was completed earlier than expected," said Josh Pellow, manager of North Higgins Lake State Park. "The result is a safe ingress and egress of Higgins Lake boat traffic."
