Nature Programs

Spring
Centered on the rebirth and awakening of many plants and animals after the long winter season, spring programs typically include:
  • Wildflower Walks
  • Spring Birding
  • Butterflies
  • Gardening to Attract Wildlife
  • Spring Catch-and-Release Fishing for Youth
  • Steelhead Fishing 101
  • Hatchery Tours are offered daily

    Summer
    With flowers in full bloom, we explore the abundance frogs, turtles, snakes and make plenty of time to help youth get started fishing. These programs may include:
  • Catch-and Release for Youth - every Saturday (preregistration required) and some Friday evenings, too.
  • Fun Friday - programs in the morning and afternoon are offered on a variety of topics, including frogs, turtles, snakes, fish mammals and more.
  • Feeding Frenzy - every weekday at noon
  • Summer Garden Tours
  • Hatchery Tours - offered daily

    Fall
    As the season gets underway, the visitor center ramps up weekend programs to celebrate the fall season. Programs may include:
  • Fall Color Walks
  • Fall Fishing Days for Youth
  • Fly Tying 101
  • Birds for Beginners
  • Hatchery Tours are offered daily

    Winter
    Don't get stuck inside all winter, get out there and enjoy the splendor of the season! Although closed on a regular basis to the public in December, January and February, the visitor center offers a variety of programs aimed at getting people outside. These may include:
  • Make Your Own Snowshoes
  • Snowshoe Walks
  • Fly tying
  • Ice Fishing 101
  • Winter Animal Survival
