    Create a Program

    Man with archery target

Creating archery programs for all ages and skill levels has never been easier! Listed below are expamples of how you can incorporate archery and bowhunting education into an existing recreation program, or better yet use our ideas to create your own!

    Classes

Offering beginning and intermediate archery classes is a fun an easy way to integrate archery education into your program guide. Participants will recieve hands on experience in shooting one or all forms of archery equipment under the guidance of a certified instructor. You can tailor your classes to meet your needs and age demands. Class suggestions include:

    Target Camps

Target archery is a great addition to any summer camp! However, a stand alone target archery camp is sure to be a big hit with the kids. The goal is to make beginner/intermediate students feel at ease while learning the basic skills needed to safely handle and shoot all forms of archery equipment. No camp is complete without target games and maybe even some friendly competition.

    After School Archery Programs

Did you know the DNR has partnered with over 500 schools via the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) to incorporate archery in 4th thru 12th grade physical education classes? After school archery programs would be a great way to capitalize on student interest or create new interest among youth in your community! Opportunities for after school programs include:

  • Earn an Archery Patch for Boy or Girl Scouts
  • "Drop-In" Archery
  • Teen Club Archery
  • Beyond NASP School Archery Club
  • After School Archery Program(ASAP)
  • You can start an After School Archery Program quick and easy. All you need are some interested youth archers and an adult instructor who has been trained and certified by USA Archery, NFAA, 4-H, or National Archery Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). ASAP, a youth after school archery program, combines proven teaching techniques with lesson plans, instructor training and easy equipment access. ASAP is your ticket to running an effective after school program your participants will love!

    Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD)

If you want to provide longterm opportunities for youth ages 8-18 you may want to create a JOAD club.JOAD is a program of USA archery that is designed to teach archery to young people, over a series of classes taught by a certified archery instructor or coach. Whether your child's interest is purely recreational or an Olympic, Paralympic or World Championship dream, USA Archery's JOAD program is tailored to help the young archer achieve their goals.
